General presentation
UAUIM is a complex academic structure, composed of different types of academic units: on the one hand, the two Faculties, the College, and the School of Advanced Studies; on the other hand the Design Departments and the Chairs.
The head of UAUIM is the Rector, who is seconded by the Prorector, both being assisted by the Chancellor. The important decisions are taken by the Senate of the UAUIM, counting 27 professors, and 7 students.
The academic units observe the spirit of the University Charter and the general directions set by the Senate. Otherwise they have their autonomy, are managed by Deans, Directors, or Heads of Department/Chair, and, in addition, the Faculties have their own Professorial Councils.
The Departments and Chairs are directly subordinated to the Rector. They are responsible for the courses, lectures and specialised design studios required by the academic units, in accordance with their curricula.
