Calendar
The academic year begins an 1 st October and lasts through October-July. There are two semesters of 14 weeks each. At the end of the each semester there is an evaluation session. There are three vacations: Christmas vacation, one week vacation between the two semesters (in mid February) and Easter vacation.
The June-July exam session is followed by two weeks of practice for the 1st and 2nd year (site practice), and for the 5th year (site/building measurement practice).
The defense of the diploma project is scheduled in late June, at the end of the academic year. There is the possibility to defended the diploma project in early March.
Enrollment and Grants
At UAUIM there are subsidized and tuition paid places, both for the Romanian and overseas applicants. The number of subsidized places is approved by the Ministry of Education and Research. There is also a number of places for which students pay tuition; this is established by the Senate of the University.
Romanian applicants should sit for the examination in order to be admitted. The following papers are necessary in order to be enrolled:
- high-school leaving examination diploma
- extract of the grade sheet with the marks obtained in Mathematics and Physics during high-school;
- authenticated photocopy of the birth certificate.
The enrollment information and application forms can be obtained from Romanian Embassies and Consulates in the respective country.
The Ministry of Education and Research offers special Grants for overseas applicants of Romanian origin, as well as it runs programmes for applicants from abroad, in general.
Admission
The examination involves only one test in drawing, witch is different according to the profile of the respective academic unit. The admission mark represents the result of the drawing test (60%), the mark obtained at the high-school leaving exam (20%) and the average marks obtained in Physics and Mathematics during high-school year (20%). The minimum admission mark is 6.00.
According to the agreements of the Ministry of Education and Research, overseas applicants are not obliged to sit for the entrance exam. However, an interview follows.
The overseas students (on grants or tuition payees) can enroll at "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism following one year of studying of the Romanian language.
Auditors and Guest Students
Students from other education institutions can attend lectures, but only UAUIM students are admitted to the projects, seminars, and other practical works. Provided there is an agreement between the UAUIM and other academic unit, as concerns the credit system, students may attend any activity and also sit for exams at the semester end.
